Seth Allen

Seth Allen was born and raised in Seven Mile, Ohio, a very small town north of Cincinnati, Ohio. Seth grew up appreciating music and found himself singing and playing piano by the time he was 13 years old at the behest of his middle school music teacher. Now 25 years old Seth Allen is a sought after tenor in the midwest and east coast. Seth grew up performing in musicals all throughout Ohio in shows such as Parade (Frankie Epps), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip), Hunchback of Notre Dame (Quasimodo), Next to Normal (Gabe), and many more. When Seth was not performing in musicals Seth was an avid choral singer, performing with the May Festival Chorus in Cincinnati, Ohio under the direction of James Conlon. The May Festival Chorus performed with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra on numerous occasions.
Seth attended Ball State University for his undergraduate degree where he received a B.M. in Vocal performance where he studied with renowned teachers and directors such as Dr. Aaron Paige, Dr. Cara Chowning, Dr. Jon Truitt, and Dr. Craig Priebe. While at Ball State University Seth made a name for himself in Indiana by performing all over the state in shows such as Wild Party (Max, Burrs U/S), Young Frankenstein (Igor), and more. In his first year at Ball State University Seth was the 1st place winner in the regional NATS competition in the undergraduate musical theatre divison. In his sophomore year Seth worked with Stephen Foster Drama Association in the city of Bardstown, KY in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Issachar) and as the featured Tenor 1 in The Stephen Foster Story. While at Ball State University Seth found a love for A Capella singing and joined the mixed group “Sedoctave”. While with “Sedoctave” Seth helped arrange music and in his final year with the group attended ICCA national championships in New York City, against the 10 best A Cappella groups in the world. While at Ball State University Seth also found a love for opera and operetta. Seth performed such roles with Ball State Opera Theatre such as The Lover (Il Tabarro), Pluto (Orpheus in the Underworld), Albert Herring (Albert Herring), and Monostatos (Magic Flute). After Graduating in the fall of 2021 Seth immediately was hired by Heartland Sings Inc. in Fort Wayne, Indiana where for eight months he worked as a Principal Artist (Tenor). Seth instructed high school aged and adult individuals in masterclasses and workshops on auditioning, diction, acting through song and more.While with Heartland Sings Inc. Seth performed all genres, including, Jazz, R&B, Soul, Musical Theatre, Country, Rock, Pop, and many more. Seth prides himself on being a multi-genre, versatile performer and still loves to perform all styles of music. While with Heartland Sings Inc. Seth performed in his first professional opera as the Fisherman (Three Hermits) by Stephen Paulus, conducted by Maestro Robert Nance.
Seth left Heartland Sings in August of 2022 to attend The Hartt School, where he received a full ride talent scholarship to receive his M.M. in Vocal Performance studying under Deborah Lifton and Valerie Sorel. While attending the Hartt School Seth kept busy performing professionally throughout the east coast in numerous musicals, operas, and concerts such as, appearing in the chorus (Tosca) with Connecticut Lyric Opera, Parpignol (La bohéme) with Berkshire Opera Festival , and Spring Awakening (Moritz Stiefel) with Madison Lyric Stage. When not in staged shows Seth often performed in concert works such as The Elton John and George Michael Tribute, The Oratorio de Nöel by Camille Saint-Saëns, and the Schubert Mass by Franz Schubert. While at the Hartt School Seth performed in many shows and recitals, the first being his portrayal of Sam Kaplan (Street Scene). Seth in his first year premiered a song cycle written by the composition students of the Hartt School. In the fall of 2023 Seth performed in the Hartt School Opera Theatre Scenes performance performing scenes from Bridges of Madison County, West Side Story, and La Traviata.
When Seth is not performing he is an avid director and voice teacher. When living in Connecticut Seth became a private teacher at Summit Music Center in Manchester, CT and became a faculty member at the Hartt School Community Division at the Hartt School. Seth was the Artist in Residence at Christ Church Cathedral where he was the director of the Christ Church Youth Choirs and is the tenor cantor and tenor section leader in the Cathedral choir. Seth took over the position of Vocal Music director for Music Moves Hartford.
Since moving back to Fort Wayne to work as a Principal Artist for Heartland Sings, Seth has already taken part in numerous shows such as the Disney Eras Art-V shows, the Artist Variety Art-V show, and Friday Night Live! Seth most recently premiered a new opera entitled A House Divided by Philip Seward with Opera Today. Seth is so excited to continue his work with Heartland Sings and to make a real impact on the community!
