Have you or your students ever read a story and wished you could see it come to life, right before your eyes? How about on stage with singing, acting and dancing? If you answered, “Yes!” then A DIY Adventure is just what you are looking for! During this 45-minute interactive show, professional singers and qualified teaching-artists will ignite your students’ imaginations. Students will be involved throughout the show, moving their bodies and raising their voices with the performers to create a completely original story from start to finish. No performance is the same!

Using state language arts standards, your students will choose a setting, create characters who confront a problem, and devise a solution to their story. Then, calling on the grand tradition of opera, they will participate in a lively and engaging performance of a short opera based on the story they have created.

Students will learn the basic elements of stories (and most operas!) as they dance and sing from beginning to end.  So get ready, because it’s time for opera!
